that I really don't need to toss more plastic in the landfill and wish there was an option just to by replacement paper filters since it is easy to just wash out (use a stiff brush if necessary) the white plastic with gasket, part. I have the same dustbuster (and it is going strong) that I originally purchased 8 years ago but what has changed over the years is that these replacement filters are no longer carried in my local big box stores. Still, I'd gladly buy a 4 or more pack of the paper filter replacements alone - if they were ever offered that way. But I guess they needed the higher profit margin selling these as a "packaged pair" allows. So I am glad to find these online. My original dismay from day one is same as it is now - i.e.

The new version has more power, holds a charge longer and cleans twice as well as the old.I have never had a bad Black and Decker product. Not bad in my book. This is the 2nd one that I have owned, and the new generation is even better than the first one. I bought the first one in an outlet in Georgia in 1992 and it lasted until 2008.
Chances are, it'll run like new again, but remember to clean it regularly. These filters are great, but I fully agree with other reviewers who were surprised when they ordered them from Buy-It-Now-Store (the $1.25 vendor) and then ONLY received the inner filter instead of the "set" as listed. Their $6.95 shipping amount is ridculous and you'll only get the 1 ounce inner filter. Also, if you need the plastic retainer that is advertised in this listing as part of the 'set', DON'T order from Buy-It-Now-Store. Buy-It-Now-Store should remove their listing from this 'set' heading and sell their 'inner-filter-only' under an appropriate heading instead of mis-leading customers. Fine print stating "does not include pre-filter" in an obscure place doesn't cut it.So, if your once great dust-buster is starting to seem sluggish, get rid of that old crappy, filthy filter and put a new one in it.
The description for this item said it was the set, but the actual item received was only filters - not the set.
